These Exercises Will Teach You How to Prevent Shoulder Injuries

Every time you lift up your arms or move your shoulders, the muscles undergo a number of complex interactions. The loosest joints in the body are the shoulder joints. The muscles provide a wide range of movements to your arms and shoulders. However, these movements can come with a great price. Apart from being the loosest joints in the body, the shoulders can also be the most vulnerable ones. Sudden impacts such as a jerk or a fall and recurrent activities can cause injuries in the shoulders.

Here are a few exercises that can help in preventing shoulder injuries :-

  1. Shoulder Rolls :-

Steps to do this :

  • Stretch your feet wide apart.
  • Fold your arms and rest your fingers on the shoulders.
  • Breathe deeply and rotate your shoulders in clockwise and anti-clockwise directions.
  • Chest Expansion :-

Steps to do this :

  • Stand with your feet slightly apart.
  • Move your hands back and clasp your palms, interlocking the fingers.
  • Broaden your chest and pull back your shoulders.
  • Hold for 5-7 minutes.
  • Neck Release :-

Steps to do this :

  • Stand in a relaxed position.
  • Drop your head down, moving your chin towards the chest. Hold for 5 seconds.
  • Move your head towards the left shoulder, backwards and then towards the right shoulder.
  • Do this for 5-7 minutes.
  • Arm-Across-Chest Stretch :-

Steps to do this :

  • Sit down on your chair in a relaxed position.
  • Keeping your spine straight, stretch your left hand across the chest and right shoulder.
  • Hold the left elbow with your right hand.
  • Repeat this with the other hand.

Shoulder injuries are more common in adults and athletes. If not treated on time,  these injuries can cause greater irreparable damages. The above mentioned exercises are sure to help in shoulder injury prevention.
